I saw the Nightcore SRT6 flashlight at a vendor's table at the last Reliant Gunshow. I wasn't there for a flashlight at the time, so I didn't really want to spend the money on a new light. But, I played around with a few lights on the table, because seeing them is much better than just reading reviews about them online... And, this particular one impressed me.
I really liked the controller ring on the body of the light - where you can turn it from min to max output, and
anywhere in between... Whatever brightness you wanted - not just preset min/med/max settings like most lights have...
Anyway, it was on my mind for a few days, and I started to look at them online. I eventually found a good price on Amazon and ordered one. It came in a couple of weeks ago...
With the controller ring, you can adjust it to any setting you want. Since you can set the output so low (if you want to), I changed it out with the Olight S20 LED flashlight I had been using as a night stand light. As a nightstand light, I want to have a flashlight that can have a real low setting, so I can find stuff in the dark and not blind myself. But, I want something that can easily be ramped up in brightness with one hand if you hear a noise in the night and have to get your gun or something....
I think the controller ring on the SRT6 is perfect for that, and I prefer it much more than the way I had to adjust the Olight's settings.
In fact, I liked this light so much, I decided to get ONE MORE as an every day carry. Admittedly, it's right on the borderline of an acceptable EDC light (size wise). But, it works fine... So, I sold that Olight S20 light, and also my big Jetbeam BC40, to help cover the cost of the second one.
Also, almost all of my lights have had a black colored body. I really liked the grey finish on these Nightcores, so I bought the 2nd one in the same color (it comes in black or grey). It's really a nice looking finish...
What I really like is that this Nightcore SRT6 puts out as much usable light as that Jetbeam BC40 did (and the Jetbeam is about 2x the body length with four 123 cells). And, the Nightcore throws almost as far as the Jetbeam BC40 does. It's very close.. The Jetbeam had a little, little more distance. But once again, it uses four 123 cells or two 18650 rechargables. The Nightcore is much smaller in size. Until I got this Nightcore, that Jetbeam was my favorite REALLY bright light to use outside at night.
Nightcore puts out a SRT7 model, which is the same light but with the addition of colored LEDs for solid color output. I didn't need that, so I just got the SRT6 model. Light also has strobe and SOS mode....
