Anyone else have this rangefinder? How do you like the performance/accuracy?

Thanks

Looked at the Vortex as well but this seemed like the best bang for the buck being 50 bucks cheaper than the Vortex and both at 1000 yards.

Went to swfa and compared several. The leupold varied the most shooting known distances. The vortex, swaros, zeiss and leicas were by far the most consistent. The guys selling them to me was a huge leupold scope fan but would not recommend the leupold rangefinders. Sorry to be a spoil sport.

Vortex is waterproof, also warrantied if you run it over with a truck or drop it on a rock

1000 yards in perfect conditions. Bright sunlight, or saturated air, and/ or non-reflective target and it won't consistently get to 1k. I have a Swaro that has trouble in these conditions I mentioned.

Have one, reliable out to 600 yards, 700 on good reflective targets. I did get it to read 990 off a building. Inside 600 it works well, beyond that well not so much.

While the lighted display is good it is too bright in low light conditions IMO. Press the button to get the crosshairs to aim it well and it makes it difficult to see the object when used in dim light.

Do any of them work perfectly in non perfect conditions? 700 yards on a 1000 yard range finder isn't perfect but I honestly don't expect any of them to work great out to 1000 yards unless its wide open country and your target is Walmart. Maybe im way off?

Not being a smart [censored], just curious. I'm willing to step up the price point and take this sucker back if there is one that works flawlessly in low light and through brush etc...

Honestly, I don't shoot past 300 so I should be good. I am more concerned with focusing on a point even when a little brush is between us.

I think your expectations are correct, everything I have read says these rangefinders only do their maximum with reflective targets in good conditions. I think 50% maximum is a realistic range on deer.

I just ordered the Leupy rx1000 myself, I couldn't resist the closeout price. Of course they are closing them out because this model is being discontinued.

My other option was holding out for a Leica or Zeiss, they can be had for mid $500 for a demo.

I read every review I could find, and most were positive on the rx-1000, but evidently Leupold made some crappy RFs in the past. I didn't find many claiming the vortex 1000 is much better, at least not enough better to pay full price for the vortex over $100 off on the Leupy. But the Vortex seems to get good comments here and I like most of their other products. Of course many would say go with the Leica, Zeiss or Swaro, but then you're talking quite a bit more money.

But for $300, I would be hoping the Leupy will do deer sized targets to 500, trees etc. a little farther.

So, I'm in the same boat you are, trying to decide to keep the RX-1000 and try it or spring for a higher priced model and return the Leupold.

I bought a Leupold RX 1000 TBR last season and it has worked without issue and been consistent on everything I've needed it for. I keep my work within 300 yards.

One of the Hunt/Fish General Outdoor rags had a Field trial of what they considered to be the best 5 of the "popularly priced" crop last fall.

Ranked the just disc'd Leo a little a ahead of the Vortex Ranger on speed of aquisition & actual range at angles...but almost flip a coin at the time with the Leo not being discounted and the Vortex at $329.95 most places online....and both being faster than the Lieca 1K yard'er, at couple $hunnert more bux. .

Leo now sez 500 yard max on Deer Sized targets...and the 1/2 of max range would be a good rule of thumb I'd think.

I'm going to keep the RX1000 myself. Just about everything I've read/heard leads me to believe it'll be worth the $299, and pretty much do what I need it to.
