I finally got cams up on a place I hunt and was excited to see a few good deer. One in particular, a nice 8, looks to have some similarities of a nice one I was lucky enough to take in 2012. Here's a couple of pics of that deer from 2011 and then 2012.

-2012-

The current 8 from a few days ago. Does anybody else think he's from the same lines? Hoping to get some better pics next week but does anyone think he'll break 140"? The deer from 2012 was 147 3/8" without the split on his G2.

Really nice buck, but don't think he will break 140". He appears to have some similarities in beam shape. I would guess somewhere down the line they could be related. You will see many common genetic traits in a deer herd. Those came about from way back when there were fewer deer IMO.

Both really nice bucks, wouldn't doubt some kind of relation at all.

I agree with ranchman, I don't think he will make 140, but is a heck of a buck.

Hard to tell on gene line, don't see the branched G2. Think he'd go lower 130s..Nice buck.

Similar frame shape for sure. If it had the forked tine I would say a direct lineage. I would say as already mentioned similar herd traits would be more accurate. A very nice 8 point. up

No split G2 as DQ mentioned, tines do not curl over near as much and the G4 do not point at each other.

Nice buck though up
