Hi,
I live in Houston, and was wondering how to go about finding a deer lease I can hunt on. I know a lot of people are on leases, some are lucky to know someone with land. I no longer have that option unfortunately.
Interested in a year lease, or seasonal lease. I have not had the luxury of being invited to hunt deer the last 3 seasons. It is driving me crazy, so I am going to see about finding a hunting lease I can lease out, with a group or individually. I don't want to pay for a guided hunt, as I would rather have the option to come and go as I please and don't want to pay thousands just to hunt 1 deer.
I have heard mixed reviews about leasing timber land. So not sure about that option?

Can you find a lease where you can hunt all game on it?
I am open to just a deer least option too.
I just don't know where to start.
I know I may be too late for this season, but I will take what I can get.

Thanks for any help/advice!

keep a watchful eye down in the land & leases area ... http://www.texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/17/1/Land_&_Leases

something I have come across recently is a group on FaceBook (if you use that) ... https://www.facebook.com/groups/texashuntingleasesposting/

whatever area you are thinking of trying to hunt, go to the Chamber of Commerce, local feed stores, mom/pop restaurants, hardware stores, etc.

Craigslist (typically will be a stretch) for various areas.

word of mouth, friend of a friend, coworker, wife's friend's husband's friends ...

I found mine last year in October, sometimes people drop last minute so don't give up!

I got mine from the land and lease thread. Just posted a "looking for lease" and got lucky. Real lucky. Good luck.

Sound advice. Some of the best leases me and my buddies have come across were from "bulletin boards" in the back of an Allsups.

Thanks for the advice everyone!
I will take it and see what happens.
Hopefully something comes my way this year.

In Aspermont the feed store has a bulletin board with ranchers wanting to lease their property.

One place to go is TexasBowhunter.com and check their classified section. They almost always have lease openings in different parts of the state that folks are posting. You can also go to cglease.com and bid on your own place to hunt.
