Well moved to a new lease in Stephens County from Parker this year. Anyone have any info or experience with this area? We will be hunting the South East corner near CR 126 and 717. Just curious as we can't set up any cams or anything until September.

Sounds like you're a little north of Ranger; I'm just north of Caddo off 717, been there for about 15 years. Deer, turkey, hogs in varying cycles. I'd set up cams and scout the heck out of it as soon as I could.
Me and ol' RUGER, 74 years and still shooting.

I am midway between Strawn and Breckenridge, this is our 4th year. We have shot deer and hogs every year. We have seen some nice deer on camera and I missed a chance on are really nice 11 point the first year. I'm not a horn hunter so if I get a doe and hog each year I am a happy hunter. We are seeing/hearing more turkey the last year or so.
Good luck.

Thanks guys. Apparently this place hasn't been hunted in 7 years so that is a plus. Thanks for the info and looks like it will be a good area

I hunt just South of Lake Daniel on a small property. I have been there for 4 years. We see good, but not great numbers of deer, including some pretty nice bucks. Just like most areas, your success will depend a great deal on how large your property is and your neighbors. We try not to shoot some of the younger deer with potential, but our neighbors don't appear to share that philosophy ... as soon as they meet the 13 inch minimum spread they seem to shot. We have plenty of hogs and turkeys if that is an interest as well. Anyway, we have been generally happy with the hunting. We are a little concerned with the lack of rain this year, but have our fingers crossed that the deer got enough in the Spring to be OK.
PS I am a Sam Houston alumnus as well .... if you e-mail me at sslough@sfasu.edu, I can send you some pics of deer that we have taken in the last couple of years.
