I was wondering if anyone had experience using this to kill mesquite. I was told after I cut the mesquite down level with the ground to spray liberal amount of Remedy and diesel on the exposed stump and it will kill the mesquite.

Then I was told I had to drill a few holes in the stump then spray the mesquite to kill it.

I believe they told me the ratio was 4 gallons of diesel to 1 pint of Remedy to get the job done.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated just trying to cut some mesquites down and kill them to open up a shooting lane.

thank you
Steven

It works pretty well. Not 100% but close enough-you can get any survivors later.

I think I used 4:1 ratio (more than yours) but it's been awhile.

Depending on what you killing large trees or small ones/bushes you don't even have to cut them down. I liked cutting bigger ones and spraying stumps so I could collect the wood.

4 quarts diesel to 1 quart Remedy.

I have not sprayed it on mesquite but two weeks ago I sprayed it on some 25' tall, 6" diameter Locust trees. Six days later and every leaf on it was brown. It is bad to the bone!

Remedy is a miracle from God and I count it as a blessing.

Remedy and Diesel is for basal/stump treatment and 1 part Remedy to 4 parts Diesel is the mix I have used. I use Remedy and Water mix as a foliage mixture on mixed brushes and smaller mesquites with good success. I mix 1 quart Remedy to 25 gallons of water and spray every leaf. With any mixture do not mix it to strong from what I have been told that with mesquites it will shock them and not totally kill them.

I've been using it on my Honey Locusts with great success as well! Make sure to let the poison work for 9 to 12 months so it kills the entire root system!

I used diesel with Crossbow (2-4-d) on salt cedar with good success. Recommend mixing with some dye you can get at the co-op so you can see where you've sprayed.

I've been using this method for the last 5 years and had good success, probably 90%+ kill on everything I've sprayed. I've found that the larger mesquites, say 5+ in diameter trunk, that the cut stump method works best but it is a lot of work. For smaller trees you can spray from the ground up to 15 inches and it will generally kill them. I use 3 parts diesel to 1 part remedy. I get mine from tractor supply for about $90/gallon.

Leaf sprayed Remedy and Diesel for years on Mesquite. Past 3 years I've been using Remedy, Reclaim, soap and water. I get about a 25% better kill with the R&R. In fact, just got of the 4 wheeler, been spraying the past couple of days. The R&R is cheaper too.

Anybody ever used Remedy on Sumac? That stuff is taking over my hunting property and mowing it just makes it spread out. That stuff is driving me crazy! I had the entire front pasture mowed about a month or two ago and it's already so tall you can even see over it again.

Is the R&R a recommended combination from a reliable source or just something you dreamed up? Back in the dark ages when I was in high school and worked in a supermarket the manager told me and another rocket scientist to clean the floor in the stock room (it was really bad, today the health dept. would have long before shut it down). We mixed a bunch of different cleaning products in a mop bucket and we cleared out the entire store on Saturday morning and it took all weekend to air it out. I think we created Chlorine gas from bleach and ammonia but there were several other thing in there. I would not like to create something like that again.

You must spray the stump within 3 or 4 minutes of cutting. If not a glaze will form on the stump and you will not get a total kill.

You could also try Relegate, which is the generic version of Remedy. It's cheaper and works just as well. Be careful what you get it on though. It will kill just about everything. It is some bad stuff up

I use 1 or 2% solution with water for foliage spray. This only kills younger trees that still have smooth bark. For the older trees with rough bark you can use a 15% solution with diesel and spray the trunk from the ground up about 12 inches.

The generic triclopyr is cheaper than remedy. Same stuff.
