Also, look at the base of the doe in the back and the rump of the doe in front....they look a little beat up...

Those are probably marks from another deer hitting that doe with her hooves. The spike is just starting to loose his summer coat as said above. On the doe it is new fall growth hair coat growing that is darker in color than the summer coat in those spots first. Bucks will shed the summer coat within a few days of shedding the velvet off their antlers.

Ok...thanks guys. I've got multiple pics of deer that look like that spike and so I was just wondering if there might be an issue.
