So my dad and I called up a buddy of ours and told him we were wanting a meat hunt for Axis. Two doe would suit us. We get down there and our buddy proceeds to tell us how good tasting Oryx are and we can have a broke horn for $500, twice the price of the Axis we're wanting. We say what the heck and go on our hunt.

Within an hour we get a nice Axis doe, neck shot from about 150 yds with our 7 MAG. Awesome, not meat ruined. Clean her and take her to the cooler at camp. Head back out and within 15 minutes we see this Oryx about 100yds out lying in some heavy brush. We scope him out and sure enough, he's a broke horn! Our guide doesn't want me to take the shot with him lying down so we try to whistle him up but to no avail. Finally he tells me to take a head shot. No problem. Boom! Oryx down! Anyhow here are a few pics of the meat hunt. We had an awesome time and came home with plenty of meat. laugh

Best thing though is my dad and I got to go out and do this together. Another memory for down the road!

Some good eats there.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

Axis doe's are about as good as there is but you will be very happy with the Oryx as well. Those 2 and Nilgai are my favorites!
Congrats on another day in the field with your dad! Baker

Thanks guys. Not sure what the ranch was called but it was located between Eden and San Angelo about 24 miles south of 87.
