I just left Cabellas confused on which set of binoculars to get. I could not tell much difference in view or feel with the exception of the Vortex having a bit thicker rubber caps. I am looking for a life long pair of binoculars that I can go elk hunting and also Alaska Brown Bear hunting. I would appreciate any recommendations you guys have. The luepold is about $200 cheaper than the Vortex. Is this something I could save money in and buy slightly used? keep in mind most of my playing was in the store and the but I did outside it was relatively dark.

Problem with cables is they all look good while in store... dawn and dusk are different.
12 aren't easy to keep steady, may want to drop down to 10x
Pm arrowsmith on TBH for vortex

10x max and you may not need the 50's due to weight. It will be way after legal shooting

I have a pair of Leupold Wind River 10x40 and have had them about 12 yrs and have had them from Colorado to Canada to Texas and have had no problem and they perform excellent. Good low light binos. Saw hogs at around 75 yrds last Feb at around 9:30 pm coming to the feeder. Like the 10X due to the size.

I have a pair of Vortex Diamondback 10x42. They are awesome. They come with a lifetime unconditional warranty. I actually have another pair that I'll sell for $230 BNIB. Long story why I have 2 pair, but I don't think I could spend the extra money unless I was a guide or someone who used them everyday for 3-4 months out of the year. Let me know if you are interested in mine - you can buy them for the same price, but you'd have to pay 8.25% sales tax. I'll eat the tax to save the shipping it would cost me to ship them back. PM me if interested. I'll be up in DFW on Saturday and could meet up with you.

Thanks for the offer Kieth but I went a head and bought a vortex viper hd 10x50 from Cabellas. That is an amazing price your offering for the Diamondback.
