Hey everyone, hope your all doing well! I want to get out in the woods this week, it's been a few months to long! I'm also a novice hunter at best, and am hopeful someone wouldn't mind teaching me a thing or two! It'll be a lot of fun, thanks

Just got back from Granger. Didnt see or hear a single thing! Either I'm the worst hunter to disgrace this forum, or there is not a single hog in Granger, TX! I've been there 8 or 9 times without seeing or hearing a thing

doubt you will see any in the heat of the day, they are laying up in creek bottoms, (will hear you long before you see them) , any place to keep cool, and if there has been any pressure, they go nocturnal.

I've seen signs of hog activity at Granger. Find that, especially around water or an area that they have been rooting during the day. Mark that spot on your GPS, get a hunting light for your bow (green, red, blue), go back to the lake one evening (or late at night), work your way to the earlier activity (staying downwind), sit very quietly, listen for activity, turn on your bowlight (point at the sky or the ground, then move it up very slowly), find a pig, target and shoot. If you don't hear anything at first, sit still and quiet as long as you can stand it, then try another spot that you tagged on the GPS.

Thanks for the tips Stretchr, however, It is illegal to hunt hogs at night time at granger. Otherwise, I would love to do that!

My bad! I haven't hunted at Granger, just spent some time walking around out there. Guess it's a good thing you've read the rules. What are the rules about dawn/sunrise? What about baiting? You could bait an area for a couple of days by hand, then sit over that bait through dawn/sunrise and possibly catch something moving around after dark.

I'm only 30 minutes away-- I'd offer to bait an area for you, but right now I'm in a wheelchair. Not going into the woods for the moment.
