Looking in the new outdoor annual it seems AR's have been removed for some counties. I only checked Fayette, Bastrop, Caldwell and Guadalupe county have no AR's this year. Still an antlerless restrictions but no AR's, this seems like good news.

I wonder why they removed the AR's from those counties?

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

From what I've just read all the counties you've listed are are still antler restriction counties rex! On each county you listed In the online manual it says special antler restrictions..see page 64. Don't know if they will ever drop any, prob just add more and more.

Interesting and thanks for that, If you look at the seasons by county on the website, they have removed the antler restrictions in those counties from the website. Seems to be even more confusing than last year.

Just for reference, here is an AR county that shows it on the website.

Edit: I emailed TPWD about the discrepancy, we will see what they say.

We have a place near Lake Somerville in Washington Co, and we had
AR for last 8 yrs or so and I think they have a purpose,,,,, using
antlers guide past theyre ears are a good thing, been seeing better bucks
the past 5 yrs or so on our place. Will continue to use the guide.
Yes anyone can harvest a little 4pt 1yrs year buck,,,,, just letem
go!
Gonna hunt pigs this year mostly,,,,, trying to keep the pasture
from getting tore up!

Response from TPWD:

Quote:
Sorry for the misleading information. The Outdoor Annual is correct. We are working to update our website to reflect the correct information in the Outdoor Annual.

Thank you for your email.

Megan Nelson

The annual is correct, the website is wrong.

I did the first and second year check points with TPWD for that county since it was one of the first to take it on... saw some really nice deer start showing up the second year.
