No real preference. If you got a little guy that was orphaned and needs to be bottle fed I will take it. Ibex, auodad, red sheep, mouflon, axis, fallow, oryx, blackbuck or just about anything. My wife wants the experience. She didn't get to grow up doing what I did. Male or female. Prefer in Hill Country area.

It is a little late now for newborns. You really need to start looking from Feb. through May if you want to bottle raise one. Just about everything now is weaned.

I have a boer goat nanny that had three babies this past week. I can sell you one for $100 and you can bottle feed it. That would be pretty much the same experience as bottle feeding anything else that you mentioned. Except for the scimitar oryx. That is one animal I would not want to have around on my place that was bottle fed. Been there..done that...never again.

I have had to bottle a few male Ibex. Real nice for a year or so then they get mean.

I would shy away from bottle raising any male exotic. That is one liability I would not want.

I've got a handful of ibex billies, one being a Persian breeder. the rule of thumb I always stand by is never take your eyes off them. I've not had any issues myself but it's always possible.

That buck started out as a bottle fawn. Once he got to be 2.5 or 3.5, he would get a little too rowdy once the rut would roll around. Charged my Grandfather one time too many times I guess. Still, there's a big difference between a ~100lb WT getting a little too frisky vs a 350 lb Scimi. Like I said, sounds like a good story.

We had a red sheep that was bottle fed and he didn't mind us so much until last year. He was 8 years old and one day he hit my wife against the barn door when she was going in to get feed for the goats and sheep. That quickly led to his demise when I found out. I also tried bottle feeding a female scimitar once. That lasted less than a year and it was quickly sold to a ranch up the road from me.

I seem to remember hearing of a fella getting put into a hospital for a while after being attacked by a mature axis buck that was bottle fed. Somewhere near Elgin if I remember correctly.

We've got a bottle raised Ibex buck and he's pretty much a jerk but on the flip side I can rattle a feed bucket and get a hold of him anytime. For myself the trade off is worth it.

I will be getting a auodad ewe next week. They are pretty docile now. Almost had a orphaned buffalo calf but it was just to weak by the time it was found. Hadn't ate in a couple days.
