Started an elk sirloin stew in the crock pot tonight on low. Marinated in milk, water and root beer. Covered with fajita seasoning, garlic, crushed red pepper and brisket rub. Added carrots, red and yellow onions, tomatoes and cilantro. Sprinkled some Franks sauce on top. Just for fun. Set on low overnight. Hope this works out!

Turned out pretty good. Wife ate it all! I put the milk in to add the fat content, the root beer was for the acid to break down the muscle. Only thing I would change I think is adding more carrots, onions and tomatoes and make sure it is covered with water, milk, root beer. Maybe cut back on the crushed pepper a bit though. Elk is such a wonderfully rich meat, even I would have a hard time screwing it up. Anyway, I think I found a recipe for cold winter deer hunts.
