Do I need rechargeable batteries when using a solar panel or are regular Duracell ok?

Check your solar panel instructions. Some camera panels actually have a built-in battery and the internal batteries are not charged from the panel. If that is the case, the only time the internal batteries are used is if the panel has discharged and there's no sun. That type can use normal alkaline batteries internally in the camera.
MOST solar panels are just for charging... If there are alligator clips on the panel you can be pretty sure it needs rechargeable batteries. If your camera has a special "deluxe" panel and plug port the panel may be rechargeable itself. Best bet is to read the instructions on the panel and camera/feeder.
