Just curious what weather conditions you guys like to hunt in?

I personally like it cold damp and drizzly that way it is easy to see fresh tracks and you can walk around in the woods very quietly.

What conditions do hogs move around in or what weather patterns keeps them bedded up?

Thanks for your input!

I like about 20 degrees and about 6 inches of fresh snow. Easy tracking and blood trailing.

Have to agree with bradyf about the snow (or here, ice) being good for tracking. It is about the only time I reliably find blood.

I think the only time that the hogs remain bedded is when the weather takes sudden make changes for the worst. Otherwise, once it has been cold, hot, stormy, they are out and about. They don't stop eating for very long and in regard to thunderstorms, I have killed a few right after a storm has passed. I have a feeling they hug the woods during a lot of storms, but I also have pics of them at the feeder during rain storms and snow storms as well.

In the cooler months it doesn't make a lot of difference, but in summer I like to hunt a day or so after a rain, for much the same reasons as Bigfoot — easier to see where the hogs have been recently. Also, here in central Texas they move around during the day more when it's cool and overcast, i.e. rain. However, we haven't been getting much of the wet stuff lately so we mostly hunt at night or early morning once the hot weather arrives, and it's here now in spades !!

I like a steady breeze, anywhere from 5 to 15 is fine. Pigs don't see well, but do have keen noses. I can work a nice steady breeze. On a calm day a gust can come up from any direction and bust you. Same with deer hunting. I actually learned that taking a state applicator's class years ago. Never spray herbicides on a calm day. One sudden gust can wipe out your neighbor's garden.

I like it about 70 degrees with a light breeze. Hogs come out around 7:00pm. 10 of them line up perfectly and I take them all out in one shot from a 50 BMG. Then all my friends that are some how behind me give me high fives. And I don't have to load up nor clean the hogs.

May have gotten carried away there.
