Please be aware that different hunts have different dates for application submittals. The application period for Archery and Upland Game hunting is Aug 18 to Sept 13 while the application period for Big Game hunting and Muzzleload is Sept 2 to Sept 27. Any applications received before or after those dates will not be accepted.
If selected, you will be allowed to bring one adult guest and a youth (ages 12-17) or two youth hunters at no additional cost. A different number of applications are given out for various units, so please check the website for areas and types of weapons you may use at each site. Since you will be hunting on a National Wildlife Refuge, special regulations will be enforced as described in the application process. Eligibility rules have been changed to meet State standards for hunters with disabilities. A Special Use Permit will now be required for hunters with disabilities using all-terrain vehicles.
Fully completed applications, with a check or money order, (No Cash) should be mailed and made payable to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, PO Box 10015, Liberty, TX 77575 ONLY DURING THE DATES ALLOWED. The public drawing for the Archery and Upland Game lottery hunt is on Sept 18 while the Muzzleloader and Big Game Hunt is on Oct 2 at 10:00am at the Refuge office located at 601 FM1011, Liberty, TX. You do not have to be present to be selected. Those persons selected will be notified by mail within 10 days and given a Refuge hunt permit with a full list of refuge regulations and map.
