I have a Remington 700 in .243 and am set on the Vortex Diamondback. This is a deer rifle, I can't decide which is better. I have seen both in the store and I was surprised by how thin the BDC cross hairs were.

Is it weird to have a BDC scope for deer hunting? I have only every looked through scopes with the regular Duplex type cross hair.

I would go with the BDC reticle. Even though your 243 will shoot flatter than the BDC subtensions are, you can learn where your holds are on the reticle for longer range shots if you want.

Thanks, I was leaning towards the BDC, just didn't know if it made sense on a deer rifle.

Why not! If you zero'd at 100 yards, you could be banging steel out to about 500-600 yards easily using the reticle hold overs.
