This red healer is the best dog I've ever had. She is loyal, protective and self sacrificing. She has found countless rattle snakes in the yard over the years. Her MO is to bark a certain way letting me know it's a snake at which point I will come out and dispatch it. In the mean time she keeps it located and keeps the other pups away from it. Apparently I wasn't there for her this time. The only reason I can think of why she got bit this time is that she was protecting one of the pups. This is the first time she's been struck and like I said she's been on more snakes than I can remember. She's had her snake vaccine for this year and seems to not be bothered by it.

Rattlesnakes and coyotes. Kill them all. And pigs what about spikes? turtles? stray dogs? I hate snakes
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

Good pup there. We had a dog bitten a long time ago when I was little by what we thought was a rattlesnake and the face swole up as up but ended up ok.

For whatever reason, dogs seem to fair better with snake bites than humans do. Glad yours is OK.

keep checking it, make sure if it turns to a puss pocket that it drains. Saw something similar that turned into a NAST infected molar in a dog.
