I have a property that is low fenced.(central Texas)
2 ranches over about 2 miles away, all low fenced in between, their is a group of about 5-8 elk.
I will occasionally see a single elk once a month on trail cam but nothing more.

1. Whats the best way to attract the larger group to my property

2. Will the elk cross low fences easily?

Good leafy alfalfa hay.

They hardly break stride crossing normal fences

Try calling to them in late August or Sept on a calm still morning.

Hoping you can come up with a workable combination!

I'll try the hay and calling them in the morning late August/September

Any recommendations for an elk call?
I'm guessing I will want a call that will be heard a long way off.

Carlton, Dillon, and Primos offer a good selection of calls. I like the Dillon bellows for bull elk bugles. The Primos Hoochie Mamma is good for cows. You can mix bugles with the cows to sound like a herd!

Here's the reason I like the Dillon call

1. Alfalfa. They will kill a protein feeder too.

2. Like nobody's business.

Primos Hoochie Mama is an easy call to use. If you've got a bull around he'll respond.

They love alfalfa (I hunt them free range in west Texas). Also a big pile of cotton seed will keep them coming back too.

I once saw in Co. a very large herd cross 2 fences . After it was over you could walk across it..
