I thought at first they were a gimmick, but I am starting to possibly change my mind since an arm brace takes ATF, pretty much out of the equation.
How does it shoot? Recoil? What is a reasonable range for a 7.5 or 10 inch barrel? Any brand recommendations?
Thanks.thought

A lot depends on what caliber you have, but most all of your questions can be answered here: AR Pistols

I have a palmetto state lower , on a 7 inch JSE 223 upper with cheap red dot . No brace , It shoot's ok , more or less a range toy / raccoon harasser . Recoil is manageable, I put it together outta of parts acquired here and there and have around 450ish in it . I have a friend who has a ak47 with the brace and that is a beast fun and cheap .

A 7.5" 223 is simply LOUD!! A flash can on the end of it is a BIG plus as a 223 is still burning powder with lots of hot gas. A 10" is a lot more fun to shoot.

I built a 300 blackout AR pistol with the sig brace. 8.2" barrel, I run it suppressed I really like the way the sig brace feels my opinion.

I've got a Daniel Defense MK18 upper with 10.3" barrel I REALLY like. I run it suppressed. Still needing a 1-4x scope for it though... Here it is with a PVS14.

I've had a 9mm, .223, and a .300BLK.
All three were fun, but I liked the 9mm the most. It's a fun toy.

Would not mind having one minus the buffer tube. Makes them look ridiculous.

Super fun if suppressed. But I have shot them a lot and feel that they are a little gangly. set up like the one you see above you kinda feel like Andre' the giant trying to shoulder a red rider bb gun. When you go through all the trouble to SBR it and have a real full length stock on it tho they are super cool for a truck gun... Be careful. Defiantly not knocking the gun above by the way. Merica'

Why not just get a sbr stamp? They are cranking them out faster than Palmetto state armory's shipping time...

Brother in law right now the SBR (FORM 1) stamps are taking about 28 days.. I'm very tempted to SBR me an AK pistol or go ahead and put in for another SBR AR lower so I don't have to swap out my uppers.

You'll be wanting one even more. Just got stock installed by Morgan and engraved by Ident.

Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

You can shoot one bullet with it. An 8" .223 pistol is very loud so you will be hard of hearing. At the same time, the bolt carrier group would smack you in the face pretty hard, probably in the jaw or knocking out your teeth if you were using the sights. Doesn't seem very fun to me if I were the shooter. However, being a spectator might be funny for a second. I'd leave the buffer tube on.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.
