Sounds like too much work to me. Just throw some Hog Wild in with dry corn, that way you won't have to worry about clogged holes and such.

If it rains and you get water in the pipe the he will clump and make a mess. Good old corn is best

I put Koolaid powder in with the corn. It does coat the inside of the pipe when it is moist, and it will attract some bees, but I'm pretty satisfied with it. It is easy, cheap, and once the pigs discover it they keep coming back for more. The scent is strong, so it helps to attract them.

PVC and straight corn works fine for me. I have a baffle area in the bottom with small rocks to add to the sound as it gets rolled around.

I've done similar to this, I used JellO powder, they seem to like it
they can't get the gel to fall out but will spend 5 min trying to get some ....
even months with no corn... they'll come back and roll it around creating 'crop circles'

Hadn't thought about adding that stuff. Good idea.

On a side note, do you set the pipe up on a T post, or on a tree? I set mine on the base of a tree, which I'm wondering if I should have used a T post.

on a T post

big metal ring in T post

chain ends bind with a Quick Link, Quick Link attaches to Ring
pipe rolls around , ring provides a free swiveling contraption

Never had a issue using just plain corn, but if you need residual scent just spray a little diesel on your pipe, doesn't even have to be mixed with your corn.

I know you use these pipes with corn for the hogs but have you ever noticed the turkeys trying to get to the corn. Could be humorous to watch.

O ya turkeys pecking at it, deer pawing at it, quite entertaining say the least. And a coon has followed victim every once in a while.

I use these to stake my pipes: http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/titanreg%3B-giant-fin-stake-tie-out--20-in

Never had a problem with them getting loose and the swivel chain is built into it.

I do the same thing with the rocks but I also added a cowbell to mine. That way when I go to hunt I carry an extra cowbell and shake it once I'm in the stand. Works like a champ aim

Here are the results
Shorter stakes for harder ground longer ones for soft
Ground they will take them up if you do not use right length stake

I use t-posts and I used to use 2.5-3" welded rings, but lately I have been cutting half inch slices from 4" pipe and have had way less binding.

When setting up a new tube I dig a 3' hole near the tube with a post hole digger and pour in a bucket of sour corn and sweet feed and cover it. I sprinkle corn and sweet feed all around the area of the tube. Once hogs find a tube the trick is to get the corn to last long enough to be useful between hunts. You want them checking it as close to daily as possible. My first pipes had 3-4 5/8" holes and would be empty in a night. They were empty in a night even after I plugged all but a single hole. Not a prob when I was hunting three nights a week, but no good for hunting 2-3 times a month. My current pipes take up to a week to stop dribbling corn. I screw a 4" square of galvanized flashing to the pipe and put a half inch hole in the middle so that the coons and squirrels can't chew open the hole. This plus using coke bottles in the tube has made it significantly more difficult to get the corn out. I also mount a cheap solar spotlight from wally world on a t-post just offset from the line to my stand. The hogs don't mind at all.
