Got a large boar come through and tear through my 3 strand barb wire pen and damaged my solar panel bracket on the corn feeder. Jerk tore up the gate I had fashioned. Why couldn't he have just gone under the lower wire? LoL 1st pic's of this guy. He's been coming for almost a week now around 10pm each night. Any suggestions on getting him to come in daylight so I might get to pop him? Thanks

If people could get hogs to come during daylight, then we would all be doing it. That sort of leaves you some other options, one of which will be fairly easy.
1. Buy a cheap solar spot light or two ($6-15 each), if you don't want to spend the bucks on a fairly expensive feeder light, and illuminate the area being damaged. It will possible spook your hog for a night or two, but then he will be back. You will then be able to shoot him via your normal shooting rig, especially if it has a good scope on it.
2. Get assistance from the plethora of NV/Thermal guys here to help you.
3. Buy NV or Thermal gear.

Pigs are random, meaning they can't be patterned. He may come for a week straight, then be gone for a day or forever. Chances are high you won't see him during the day. Might try one of DNS' suggestions or get one of the red or green hunting lights for your gun and prepare to sit. Good luck!

No fundage for NV/Thermals! Will the solar lights spook my deer? That is a pretty substantial hog you have there and some nice bucks! I have lights on two of my feeders and the deer don't seem to mind. Truth be known, something new will spook a lot of critters initially if they have not seen it before, but they get used to it. We have deer bedded down next to my rifle range while we are shooting. The deer don't seem to take notice anymore of the oil/gas trucks coming across the property or the sounds of the pump stations. They will get used to just about anything. I would not suggest adding lights to your feeders in the middle of deer season, but adding one now would probably be fine. You don't want to blaze the whole area, but just to have enough light to get a bead on your hog.

Hog panels will solve your problem Where there is one hog, there are more. You will have to hunt them or the population will continue to grow. To protect your equipment, stxranchman is right, install some hog panel. I would work on the hogs however if you want the deer to stay...

Thanks everyone, the main reason (besides being cheaper) for using the barbwire was to see if there were hogs. Landowner said they were few and far between. This is the first sighting since camera went up 2 months ago. Think I'm going to put up a solar light and some soured corn Fri and lay in wait! Appreciate the tips, keep em coming.

One more question.. Do you use a motion detector to activate the light when they come in or do you set it to constantly be on?

Motion lights are more apt to be disturbing to animals because they cause a change in the environment. They will get used to it, but a constant light, not too bright, is less of a bother to them.

I have had good luck with a motion light that only comes on when some movement is detected. It may bother the hogs a little at first, but if so they quickly get accustomed to it. Plus, if I'm sitting down wind the light coming on is a clue to pay attention. Sometimes the hogs sneak in without making a lot of noise.
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

Did it seem to bother your deer much, I want that hog but not at my deer's expense.
