You can get a plug in device that will show pics, but not sure abt videos. Should be an app somewhere out there to convert for you. If you find it let us know.

Ok. Here's what I figured out.
You can not directly play game camera videos on the ipad from a sd card with the the ipad camera connection kit. The ipad doesn't recognize the avi codec that the videos use so you can not import them because they don't show up. No apps will play them directly.
You can convert them and then put them in iTunes on your computer/laptop and then transfer them to your ipad to play them. That's a lot of work.
You could convert them on your computer, And build a file/folder tree in a certain way with a certain name for the folders and files that the ipad would recognize and then put that on the sd card in an exact certain way and it will import directly to your ipad from your sd card. A lot of work.
The easiest way I found was to import/upload the videos to Dropbox on your computer and then use an app called VLC Player that you allow to use your Dropbox. Then you play it. This requires no converting and is very easy but you have to have cell signal or wifi to play it.
Or you could jailbreak your ipad and then it will import directly to your ipad from sd card and play very easily. Jailbreaking is not illegal but it voids warranty and can ruin your ipad if you don't know what your doing.
Or you could buy a cheap used android devise and they play avi.
