Was headed to El Campo this morning to look at a disc. Decided to check a big DU pond right outside of Columbus for the heck of it. There was a group of about 15 or so that were cupped up to land, then picked back up as I drove by. I stopped and waited, but they never came back. Got my blood pumping though.

I sure as heck hope they're early this year and not late like last year.

Only time will tell.

Do you post that same picture every year or what?

You and me both.
I ran out to a couple of ponds last weekend near Brookshire, and only saw a few coots on one pond. Its still early, so I'm not worried yet.

Absolutely love me some teal. Everything is good when the teal arrive. I was dog training in August 5 or 6 six years when I pulled up on a tank that had a 100 or so teal that had just arrived within the last couple days. I got so excited, I stopped the truck and got out to see the birds. The problem was that I forgot to put the truck in PARK. bolt I did catch the truck but my wife still reminds me of this all the time. hammer grin

Is it a good or bad thing that these early cold fronts are already moving birds down? Could there be a chance that they move through early,

There is a pretty large local population of bluewings that stay in Texas. Probably what most of y'all are seeing.

No way, the ones I saw looked thirsty so I asked if they wanted a Coke. They said no but they'd love a pop. Yankees for sure...

I'm already scouting them on the Barney. Haven't seen any yet but they were down early last year and in good numbers on the big end of the lake, naturally in the non hunting area. I don't know how they were down on the end that counts. It was to long of a walk to get to them......but I will be looking this year.

Save some for us non-migratory Texans (and Okie Rob, not that he needs the help)!
