Anyone hunting in that quadrangle been out and about on their properties in the last month?

- How is the rain/foliage situation?
- What's the horn growth look like?
- Big fawn crop this year?

Just wondering, as I haven't had a chance to go out since early spring.

The vegetation is as thick and green as ever. Lots of fawns. Antlers look great. Should be a banner year.

I'm out north of Cisco and I agree, it should be a good year. It's going to be a good year for the broomweed too at my place though. All is pretty green but not quite enough rain. I shouldn't complain, we have had some.

It's true hard work never killed anybody, but I figure, why take the chance.

South of Brownwood in Mills county. Average to good on forage. After the last four years of drought we have more weeds than grass but it's coming back just gonna take some time. Those ranchers that haven't sold completely out of livestock have cut back to a 1/4 to 1/3 of normal. Added cover should have helped the fawn crop survive the predators some. We don't keep feed and camera's up in the off season so the bucks we see are small and running with the does this time of year but antler growth should be at least average this year. We are still lacking in runoff water to fill all the ponds and lakes. The farther west you go the worse it is.

We are about 40 miles East of San Angelo and it is in great condition for this time of year. Rough winter on them and Spring didn't kick in until late, but when it did, it has been great. Ponds are full, grass looks great, and deer are healthy. Fawn crop will be high this year. Antler growth should be above average this year. Good luck up

East of Nolan. Haven't had much rain in the last month, pastures have dried up pretty quick. Antler growth is the best I've seen in 4-5 yrs, lots of fawns on the ground and the doe are plenty healthy looking.

For what it may be worth. Our ponds are full. Grass is high and green along with forbs and browse. I haven't checked cameras in a while though. Looks like a good year though, been seeing lots of doe, which is kind of unusual for us. We're east of the area you inquired about.

Hunt 15 mi SE of Brownwood. 2010 was last time it was this green. Most does with fawns...LOTS of twins. Tanks are full and the cattle look very healthy too. Seen some bucks with good potential. I'm dreading the 2015 and 16 seasons though after 2011. I don't think we will see many 4-5 y/o bucks till 17 rolls around.
