Built about a 2.5 - 3 acre spot to flood for this upcoming teal season. I will be farming this year on my own, and part of the agreement is I will make the landowner a few ponds. Millet has been planted, but not sure how it will come along as it is pretty late. Which is fine if it doesn't. Will flood it to be about 8 inches to a foot of water and control that depth throughout the season. Will try to make another possibly at the end of August and maybe another sometime in October. Been crazy busy this off season, and finally getting to work on some duck stuff.

Let me know when the teal are piled in. I'll be ready to book a trip.

How many hours did you put in on the dozer to get that to work?

Looks to me like he disced the area and then just pulled a levee plow behind a tractor to make that little levee.

Yep.

No dozer. Pulled a heavy disc about 4 passes, then trimmed it up and pulled it quick. Went around the edges 6 times or so to make sure the ground was soft. Then pulled a levee disc 4 times around, trimming up each time until the bottom of the tractor would scrape the dirt.

The pond that I was going to "modify" has been full of water.

Last year I couldn't get any water in it. This year can't keep water out of it.

Just pump it.

There's a 6 acre old gravel pit that catches a lot of drain water from a creek and when the rice fields get drained. It's never gone dry.

Built an overflow between that pit and another one to get even more water.

Will run some pipe one pit to this spot and just pump it.

It's been a crazy year. I got held back a whole month cutting hay because of all the rain.

And when I finally cut some, it decides to rain on it.

But I'm not complaining one bit.
