My father passed in a plane accident in April. I picked up some of the small bits of wreckage. This bird has a piece in the hollow and will hunt with me. There will hopefully be many more to come. Phone put the pix a little on the blue side for some reason.

Very, very nice. I like how the tuft curls to the side and of course the meaning and story behind the decoy is priceless. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys. My dad never hunted, but he gave me my love for the outdoors and adventure through fishing, camping, multi-day backpacking trips above the timber line, running rivers and just generally enjoying the beautiful rocky mountains. He was curious about my duck hunting, though his ultimate hobby was flying. We flew two seaters together over the mountains of Missoula, MT when I was a kid and he took a long break from flying due to raising a family and other concerns.
For over 30 years he said I know I have to go someday, I'd like to do it flying. Earlier this year he bought an ultralight aircraft and got a chance to fly it a few times. That day he buzzed neighbors smiling and waving, one even got a picture of him over the neighborhood. He was having the time of his life when he headed back to his hangar and something went wrong along the way.
I have enough pieces of his plane to build a pretty big rig. I have no exact plans for the size or species of the rig, and no hurry to "finish" that project. It will just be something I do for hopefully a long time and I look forward to many hunts over these blocks.
