What is the best AR for the money to use for a Dog gun?

I have bought in the past and they would group about 3 inches at a hundered yards so I sold.

I dont want to spend a fortune but I want something that will shoot a good group

BCM, LMT, Daniel Defense, Colt. You could probably find these for $1,000-1,200. DD might run closer to $1,400.

If you're looking for consistent sub-MOA, you need a match barrel. You can either build your own or purchase of the shelf. Have to pay to play. But I would also add that a good trigger will shrink groups too, but they're almost as much a match barrel. A 7 lb stock trigger ain't gonna cut it.

My 16" LMT will hold 1.5 MOA all day with a chrome-lined barrel, which are not known for their inherent accuracy. The coyote I shot last month didn't know the difference either.

These listed are battle guns and are not going to achieve that good of accuracy.

Rock river predator pursuit is about one of the most accurate for the price.

Bolt Action. You can buy a nice and accurate bolt gun plus a good scope for what just an accurate AR would run without glass.

x2 on the bolt action. I prefer a one-shot - one clean kill philosophy. JMHO. But I get that people want to try to eradicate as many hogs as possible and how much of a nuisance they are.

Exactly. I have the bolt actions, but now I'm looking at exapnding my AR collection beyond 5.56, as well as carrying a G20. With the abundance of hogs and yotes, sometimes, lots of rounds is the need for the day.

I don't think they have a stamp for that.

I guess I'm getting old. All the verbs in the Claymore graphic are past tense. When I left Uncle Sam, they were still actively used (in training, at least). We trained with claymores right along with detonation cord and field-expedient flame. Firing a claymore followed by a couple of directional napalm fougasse is truly an awesome sight.

They still teach it, but this graphic left out ATAR.

Rock Rivers comes with an accuracy guarantee. I bought a Predator Pursuit upper and built the lower I wanted. I'm very happy with mine and it will be my new Calling gun come January.

The problem is when you call in multiple dogs you have to move way to much on follow up shots and WILL get busted trying to chamber the next round.

I love my Bushmaster Varminter. The Predator is a great gun also. The Predator Pursuit is also a great gun. My .02 is go with something in a 18+ inch barrel. I prefer 24" to give it that extra spin time to stabilize the bullet better. My Varminter will shoot a ragged hole at 100 yards and 1" at 200 with the Zeiss 4-14x44 on top. 2cents

I went with a Rock River with the 20 inch bull barrel and match trigger. Topped it with Zeiss glass and it's deadly out to 400 yards.

This is my varmint rig. I am not really a target shooter, so I don't worry about group sizes too much. With nicer ammo, I can shoot 1" at 100 yards.

Build one! Use a .223 Wylde barrel. I would suggest using AR15Performance.com barrels.

My J.P. Enterprises holds groups at 300 yards with out issue. That type of accuracy will cost a little more than the average AR15. With that being said, my favorite dog gun is my CZ 17 HMR which is extremely accurate on a low/no wind day with basically no recoil.

I wish CZ would make a 17 WSM..... Savage's offering doesn't excite me!
