Some older footage showing nothing but 5.56mm in various ammo types. Those not labeled are 55gr fmj.

30 plus minutes...I hope you enjoy the video

To be honest, i watched the first 1 minute and 39 seconds and then shut it off after seeing the shooter hit the hog 6 or 7 times before the hog finally fell. most any animal will die if enough bullets are plowed into it. I wont dispute that a .223 can kills hogs...i wont dispute the fmj, hollow points, or marshmellow point can kill hogs if enough are fired into it. grin
What i will dispute is whether or not there are SEVERAL better caliber bullets that should be used by a hunting "professional/outfitter" other than a .223! Now granted, if you put the bullet in the right spot with a .223, chances are the hog dies a humane death.
Finally, i will assume some of those videos (you have shared here and in the past) are of you and some are of others behind the rifle pulling the trigger. Let me just say that since i dont know who is shooting on any given video, i will simply state that was some of the worst shooting i have ever seen! Whoever was shooting the black hills ammo in the beginning should have their hunting licensed revoked.

Just my .02 and a bag of chips!

There's nothing better than killin it and grillin it!

I agree, some of those shots were not that great. Had you watched further you would have seen more instant death and some heads explode. I tried to make the video a gradual transition up to when better projectiles were selected. We went through more ammo selection than what was posted in the video but wanted to show the difference the best we could as our case study went.

All of the Pigs hit in the video were found dead either where they fell or just inside the wood line. I welcome anyone who thinks they can shoot free handed better than what is depicted. I assure you it will be a humbling experience and posted here for your buddies to see.

I accept your challenge. You let me know where, and when, and I'll bring my AR10 out and show you how to stop hogs with a SINGLE shot... Repeatedly. Running hogs, standing hogs, full on sprinting for their life hogs-1 shot.

Seriously, leave the 223 at home. I enjoy your videos immensely. However, the number of shots you fired into several different hogs trying to get them to stop was just sad. I don't care what kind of ammo you are shooting, leave the .223 at home. You would be killing more hogs if you used a more substantial caliber because if they each dropped with a single shot, you could be acquiring a new target to take out instead of following the same target and dropping an entire magazine into him.

Again, just tell me where, and when, I'm ready. You can film me and post it up here for all to see. I ain't skeered!

I'm going to have to break down & buy a camera and start filming my hunts.

A hog is nothing more than a bullet receptacle.

I'm your huckleberry.

As for the 5.56 yes CNS shots will take out the hog but a .22LR will do that. If the 5.56 is all you have to use then I understand it fire away. But you are severely limiting yourself with 5.56 and using valuable time to make multiple hits on several of those running hogs and they barely slowed down. That could have been so many more hogs taken out. Obviously you have the funds for a better caliber since you are using thermal. The only reason I can think of for you to use 5.56 is to prove the point that it works great on hogs. In my opinion you are proving exactly the opposite. That was some great shooting but but poor bullet and caliber choice.

Most of the scenes where it took multiple shots were done with poor bullet choice. I was trying to show part of the R&D we did with various bullet selections. So I showed the poor footage. I have a lot of great footage showing the potential of the caliber.

5.56mm is not the best choice, but I choose it for various reasons and it gets the job done.

With my current bullet selection, I have had far less Hogs get away.

.308 is ok if, again, you choose the right bullet. Most of the time it will over penetrate and/or mess up meat. Its heavier and has more recoil. I would much prefer the 6.5 Grendel.

You should try the 6.8

AWESOME VIDEO! Not a thing in the world wrong with the ole 223. In my opinion, shooting them a few times before they go down just adds to the fun. When I'm meat hunting, I prefer a one shot pop, but when the switch is flipped to eradication mode and recovery/ eating them is secondary I say blast away. Different strokes for different folks, but I personally have no issue with hitting a hog multiple times and don't see it as inhumane at all.

We had tried to get some friendly competition started in the past with a monthly hog hunting VIDEO contest. It never really took off at that time and the preverbialy nail in the coffin was when the MODS placed/moved the link in the General Discussion board as opposed to the Hogs section where in my opinion it got more visibility by those who come on here for hog information and discussions.

Another goal at the time was to ride the wave of the Sightmark Photon (Digital Nightvision scope) which was the first sub 1,000 night scope with recording capability. Well the Photon never really got a foot hold as the US received very few units.

Here are the links to the old contest threads and oh by the way ANOTHER digital night scope is supposed to be coming soon, lookup the ATN X-sight, and it records without the need for external video equipment, at night, for less than 700 bucks...

http://www.texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4537777/1

I won't hunt hogs with 5.56 and I can't match the upper echelon hunters like TLM / Kawa / HogRush but I am always interested in seeing more video from the masses!

Have a LWRC. Not impressed. The Grendel bullet selection beats the wind better and is just so much more accurate IMO.

If the BC is not good, it needs to be fast. The 6.8 is not fast and would rather tote the 7.62x39.

I built a .308 bolt gun over the weekend on the back end of some other smith work.

It is a light barreled Rem 700 ADL in a TI Hunter stock with our DBM.
I cut and threaded the barrel @ 18".

Going to try some 110 grainers at 3000fps.
If it pans out, "There Will Be Blood" and probably some goo.
