Don't do 85 unless it's a private land hunt.

I never hunted that far East, but have seen good Elk driving through a gazzilion times. Units 741 and 74 are not bad, I have hunted behind the Purgatory ski resort (drive right through the place to get back there).

The golf course on the West side of town, has to erect a fence each year around Sept-Oct to keep the Elk out, they tear the he77 out of those "purdy" fairways LOL. Good hunting on top of the mesa just NW (unit 74) of Durango as well.

Has a lot of either sex tags handed out and guiding on private land...and irrigated alfalfa down in the valley for the mid-Nov hunts.

We hunt 81. It's tough going back for a third time this year. We only bow hunt though.
