Everybody has a magic formula/recipe. Everybody has anecdotal stories. Nobody has verifiable results to show any work particularly well above just plain corn. Hogs will eat just about anything, so just about anything will work, but that doesn't mean it is better or faster.

Nobody hardly ever talks about all the time their special recipes sit there not doing anything or being eaten by things other than hogs.

You might as well wear your lucky underwear. I do and hogs showed up 6 times last year within 30 minutes of me getting into the stand. muyloco

I agree with Double Naught Spy, if I had a dime for ever concoction that I have heard of for pigs I would have retired already (and I have tried them all). I say, if they are coming to corn/protein, then bate with corn/protein.

Hey, DNS, do you rent out them lucky shorts? I can't get hogs that quick.

As has been said, everyone has a magic recipe.

I've heard this story of farm pigs that will eat almost anything except one particular item, lets say, raw potatoes. Then I've heard this other group of farm pigs (same area) will eat the raw potatoes, and about everything else, but won't touch okra in any form. So after awhile these guys get rid of all their pigs, a couple years pass, and they decide to start up pigs again. These new pigs will eat okra, and potatoes, but not tomatoes. I think pigs, even being pigs, are going to decide there are things they don't like, and I think that is potentially something they pass on through teaching avoidance, or whatever, to their offspring. Just a half arsed theory I got going.

In my case, i'm hunting pigs that have such plentiful food supply all around that they won't even bother digging up plain dry corn. they'll eat what's on top of the bait hole and move on, the raccoons will come in later and dig the rest up (very different hole types between the two animals, so it's easy to tell who done it).
Now, when I bait the same type of hole, in the same area with fermented corn (I don't rot it, I ferment it with yeast and sugar like starting a batch of moonshine, usually for no more than 4 days) The pigs will dig in that hole every time, even if the racoons have robbed it almost dry, the pigs still dig up a bigger hole checking it.
I think the biggest advantage this stuff has is the smell on it travels farther faster, the fermentation seems to bring in deer, racoons, and if they are around, pigs, pretty fast compared to any of my dry corn attempts. Rabbits do not seem to like it so far though, and I've seen a food plot fill with rabbits one night eating all my dry corn.(was really strange to see I thought). In my case, this mix will get the pigs digging, unlike the dry corn.

Again though, I think it is all going to depend on what your local pig pop likes, what their habits are. You get the idea.. Mine are wary of apples, and anything that smells like apples (hunting mixes, sweeteners, flavorings, blah blah blah), yours may come running to this though. I may find out if I use honey or grape koolaid, mine come running to me at warp while yours may run the opposite direction if they caught whiff of it. I say experiment when you can and find out what they like, when you find what they hit aggressively, stick with it till it stops working.

Also as Simple Searcher said, If you already have something they are hitting pretty good, just use that.

I feed corn/soy mix year round. Hogs seem to love it. I have a feeling they would eat whatever I offered though!

Just a sweet mix seems to work a little better than regular corn to me, just fill a few 5 gallon buckets full of corn and water, mix a bunc of the powdered jello mix in the and stir it all up good, let it sit for a few hours till the corn soaks up the water the go dump it out where ever u wanna hunt. I'll fill some socks full of jello powder and dip em in water an hang em in the trees high if I can too if I'm going to be huntin a spot for a few days. Some people say what they want but I've sat the same stand plenty of times without bringin sweet corn and not shot hogs but seems to me that I shot a lot more if there's some kind of sweet smell in the air

Anything that emits a strong smell and resembles food. Hogs are not picky it seems to me. If you are baiting them, I just dump jello on deer corn, and add a beer and water. Let it sit out for a week or two and ferment, they seem to pick it up pretty good. If you have a food source, they will find it.

Maybe it's just me and the hogs in my area but I every time I have tried a crazy mixture like that I haven't seen a hog. My best luck has been watching for their pattern on my game cam and shooting them at the feeder.

They don't have a problem eating the corn at my place; in fact they fight to get in line with the feeder goes off. I left my feeder on in the evenings for 4:00 P.M. 4:30 it's all gone.. They eat like pigs. hammer

BTW I stopped buying that cheap Walmart corn; it gummed up my feeder tubes, I spent hours cleaning that crap out!

up they start showing up on cam's, take my Country Charm ice cream pale, fill with corn, walk around throwing hand full of corn out at time scattering it. Secret: they like peanut butter, crunchy. i just hope people don't go nutts & buy all the peanut butter off the shelves & drive up the cost like they did with bullets flag

Find fresh ruts, dump a pile of jello corn, check at dusk. There will be a pig there.

CORN works as good as anything..

I've tried these corn flavors
soured
apple
strawberry jello
watermellon jello
vanilla pancake syrup
and slop = everything old, rotten and/soured out of the cook shack

all got eaten but plain corn works as good and fast as any of it.

Corn is good. Fermented corn is better.

Pigs follow their noses, so the stinkier the bait the better. Get a plastic 5 gallon bucket with a screw on top. Fill 3/4 with corn and pour some water and beer on it. Screw the top on and let it sit in the sun for a couple of days. Stinks wonderfully.
