They would hang from the wall because I need to store rolling equipment under them. I want them to be substantial that's why I want to use those materials. Walls are drywall over wood studs on 16" centers.
Can anyone post up some picks? (I am a hardcore visual learner.)

I will see if I can get some pictures within the next few days of a shelf I built in my garage behind my boat for storage overhead with freespan below (so boat could be back under). Sheet rock walls with wooden studs on 16" centers with a recessed area about 3'6" deep by 16' wide, so I used 2x4 with 3.5" deck screws thru frame, sheet rock and into the studs on three sides (against the wall) and used hurricane brackets in the center and a 2x4 vertical up to the ceiling (hurricane brackets top & bottom). I then used 1/2 ply wood to deck the frame for the shelf and used 1" deck screws to secure decking to frame.
gave me a freespan 3' x 16' shelf about 6 foot off the ground ... great for ice chests, tents, lawn chairs, camping stuff, roaster oven, etc. and the boat tucks below.
the metal hurricane brackets worked amazingly well using 2x4s and deck screws.

I bought these Gladiator 72"H x 77" W x 24" D. They are very well made and sturdy. I like the fact that the shelving is adjustable. If you search online you can get them at a much better price. After pricing materials these were a good buy for what I got for my money. http://www.lowes.com/pd_494039-46-GARS77...1712&rpp=32
