Hey guys. I have a chance to pick up a new pistol from a guy that is just needing some cash. Sounds like a good deal..... $300 for a practically new Taurus PT 1911 .45
I have never been a huge handgun guy much less a Taurus fan, does anyone have any experience with this model, good or bad?
Is it a good deal for $300 or should I pass

I would buy it for $300. I don't know what they used market is for that gun but $300 for a 1911 is cheap IMO even if it is a Taurus.

Pretty decent handgun. I'd run it through a dealer even if it did cost me an extra $30. Leave a paper trail.

Had a friend that bought from a co-worker and did that. Took the heat off of him when the gun was discovered to have been stolen. They went to the co-worker and he told who he got it from. Friend was out the $$ and the gun until co-worker did what was right.

Pay it forward - Kids are the future.

Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

It's a $450-$500 pistol new. If you are getting it for $300, there's a reason. I will NEVER own another Taurus again. Between my brother and I, both our Taurus pistols had issues that needed to be sent back to the mfg for repair, and still wasn't 100%. If you wanted a plinking pistol for range work, then maybe. But I would never want to rely on a Taurus when the SHTF.
