I am building a Remington 700 AAC-SD with the 20" barrel with a 1:10 twist in 308 and would like to get some feedback on what off the shelf rounds work best with it. I also have a bunch of brass that I will be reloading and would like some input on bulletin grain, powder and grains of powder some of you are using. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi C99,
I picked up a R700 SPS Tactical Threaded Barrel in .308 last year, for suppressed hog operations. It also has a 1-10 twist but is 16.5 inches in length. I have been loading the new Hornady 125 grain SST with CFE223, using the load data from Hodgdon. Getting 3010FPS on my Magneto Speed chrono through my YHM Phantom TI.
Regards,

Im also running the 16.5 inch aac-sd. Im shooting 175 Sierra SMK's over varget also using hodgdon's load data. Rifle seems to like the 175's, but im gonna try some 165 gr sierras next week just to see how she does with them.

I use 165gr Accubonds in mine. Could not be happier!

My absolute favorite bullet for 308 is the 178 gr Hornady A-max. So when you start loading consider it. Factory ammo; Federal loaded with a 165 gr Sierra Game King is very good. I've also, loaded that bullet with very good results.
H-Varget is the powder of choice for 308.

I use 165gr Accubonds in mine. Could not be happier! I used these in my 308 when I still had it and still use them in my 30-06.

I have the same rifle (20" AAC-SD 1 in 10) and mine likes 168 A-Max factory loads.... But, it LOVES 175 match kings in Federal brass with GM210 primers and 43.2 of Varget with a 2.810 OAL. It REALLY LOVES this load. My buddy has the same gun that likes the same thing but with Hornady brass, Winchester primers, and 43.0 of Varget. but, it just wouldn't group as well in mine. Thanks!! The psycho nut bags have always been there. They just get better press now. Take away their guns, they'll use knives. Take away their knives and they'll use sticks!!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the info. I hope I can fine tune a load for it and you have all given me a place to start. I'm wanting to go with a heavier grain bullet so ill start with the 175/178 options then go from there.
