Anyone ever hunted San Angelo State Park. I was going to take my last quail trip of the season, and wanted to give it a try on some public land. Any heads up would be appreciated.

This is the first I've ever heard of it. I've had a few good quail hunts in that general area.

With the annual public hunting permit, the state park is open to hunting. I called today and spoke with the receptionist. For what it is worth, she told me people had pretty good success early in the season. These days a successful hunt might mean seeing a couple birds cross the road!

Went to the park two years ago; no birds. Not worth the trip IMO.

You will be lucky if you come across one bird. If you do though I guess that would be a successful hunt. I hunted four or five different years out there and only managed to flush one bobwhite.

Thanks for the info. Just trying to squeeze one last hunt out of the season.
