I suggest You try some out before buying one. Renting several to try can save you money buying & changing guns. Fit is very important. Guns from Browning & Beretta are a good place to start.

Caesar Guerini makes a fine sporting clay gun.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

You have to try them, one mans perfect shotgun, might as well be a fence post to another. To me a K80 might as well be a fence post. My perfect gun is a Perazzi Mirage.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

Mine was a Citori Super Lightning 20ga 28" Added a 1/2" Kick Eez pad for a LOP of 14 5/8". It hit where I looked and more accurate than me. It just felt right, you can tell when it does.

Agree but it is what I own so I'm biased. You can't go wrong with one a Beretta or Browning...they all have different feel. Beretta and the Guerini are close but still not perfect. Browning is heavier and swings slower. Perazzi is another good one. Kreighoff K80, but once cry once I shot one and wouldn't shoot one if you gave it to me...I'd sell it and buy a CG Impact or Perazzi mx2000. Way to heavy and slow swinging, I know guys like them and they are considered the best but I wasn't 10k+ impressed at all.

The title of your post said "best", but the first thing in your post said "good"? What are your trying to to do? What is your budget for this project? If you want a new o/u sporting gun of good quality, look at the Browning 725 or a Berretta 68x series, approx $2,500. If you want to spend 4k you get several more options (Beretta 692, Caesar Guerini, Zoli, etc.), at 7k or 8k you can get a standard grade Blaser F3, after that the sky is the limit.
If you are not all in and just want to test the waters, find a used "B" gun. O/Us last for years and years.

5 Stand Dan.... I should have qualified my first post, but it was mainly to start discussion. I have been looking at Citoris, Silver Pigeons, 101s, that class of gun. $1000 to $1800 pre owned guns. I shot trap with a Broadway long ago but sold it.
Good feedback

Just keep picking up used Citori's and Beretta's until you find the one. You'll know it when you pick it up.

Browning or Beretta, both make fine guns. I'm partial to my Browning 525.

Don't mean to hijack the thread. But I have a Browning Citori C 725 with 32" ported barrels. 6 extended chokes, beautiful gun, has around 100 rounds through it. Had listed for 2500.00 dropped price to 2200.00 let me know if you have any questions.

Looking for a good sporting clay O/U What do you recommend? I had a Weatherby Orion that shot very well. I got it for dove and clays. I ended up selling it, though, because I took it out once and got a couple of scratches on the stock, and never wanted to take it out again. I don't want a gun that I can't throw in the back of vehicle, or carry through a briar patch if I need to, you know? Just my opinion...
