I was watching a buck down a draw once and couldn't figure out why he was so fascinated with me or how he was seeing me. Was fully decked out in camo sitting under a big oak tree.

Finally heard something and slowly turned to find a doe no more than 5 feet behind me on the other side of the tree. She could smell me but wasn't spooked and eventually was literally sniffing the eye holes in my face mask. She never ran at any point, just eventually went on about her business walking away.

I must also confess that I did, in fact, shoot her. Despite our bonding moment.

...and I guess "her business" was providing target services for hunters. Wait - that's sorta like a one time success isn't it? clap

He should have done what Johnny Wiesmueller did in those old Tarzan movies and Jumped on it's back and knife it to death. Tarzan did that to Crocs and lions all the time in the movies. food roflmao

My grandfather tells a story about his brother sitting under an oak tree shotgun hunting back years ago. He was dead asleep under that and got woken up by a buck bumping his shoe with his head. To his credit he didnt freak out. He let the deer walk off a little way and ended up shooting him. Not a giant but a good sotry.

I had something like that happen to me once. I was turkey hunting on a warm, south-Texas afternoon, and was leaned up against a tree. I fell asleep for about 30 minutes, and kind of cracked my eyes open when I woke up. There was a deer looking at me sideways about 10 feet away.

The deer kept eating and looking at me for about 10 minutes or so. I decided it was time to head in, as the light was starting to fail, and he was off like a shot -- straight through the mesquites and cactus, like they weren't even there. Pretty exciting!
