Seriously? LOL. My wife is stuck in Weatherford, because the nurses that work for her (from Mineral Wells) couldn't make it. Tomorrow may be better ...late in the morning, but if you really need to go for it, fill the gas tank and take blankets in-case your hunting from a ditch!

No deer is worth an insurance claim for me!! I bet the deer move like nuts come Sunday afternoon though, being penned up and hunkered down, they will need to move.

Dennis, how bad is Wise? Really wanting to hunt tomorrow but my normal 10 minute drive to the office took 45 this morning and I was the only car on the road most of the way. Downtown Fort Worth is terrible.

Teamone, you just took my exact thoughts out of my head! I was contemplating driving from FW to just S. of PK to get to my lease. Hwy 180 the entire way. Oh well, I'm off again on Monday. Y'all be safe....

Kenny, the sleet has stopped and temps only up to 25*. I may have to try to get to Weatherford to pick up the wife, IDK yet. I will know better if I go out. Our county road here is BAD.

The sleet may afford you some traction since there hasnt been much traffic out here, but I'd call you're insurance co. and make sure you're paid up!!

I'll know better by this evening.

Funny you mention insurance as I called them yesterday just to make sure.

I have to travel about 10 miles down county roads, so that doesn't sound good.

Be careful if you get out. The roads in cowtown are awful and I imagine they are worse as you head west and north.

Well, I think if a guy is going to get out, he;d be smart to do it and go where he can stay after dark. Roads will surely freeze over by tonight through tomorrow. Maybe the wind will help bby evaporating some moisture and keep "some" water from laying to become ice.

I got up this morn to go to work, made it from south Decatur to Rhome on 114 and turned around. It wasn't too bad, but other people were having a tougher time.
Wife has me putting up Christmas stuff today, but I'm going hunting this weekend for sure.

My wife doesn't let me near the decorations! tangled lights, I "fix" with my buck knife grin If she were to have me help, I think I would be trying the roads, I would rather hunt in a ditch than do the decorating "thang"

114 from jacksboro on west is bad.

I don't want to sound like 'dad' but ain't no deer worth the risk of coming out this way. They're calling for temps tonight from 8f to 5f with the wind factored in i dont even want to know what the wind chill will be.

I had to go into loving to get a propane tank filled, the gravel road was terrible the county road 3" covered in ice / sleet, 114 a solid sheet. Took 2 hours to make a 12 mile round trip becuase I couldn't in good conscience drive past folks off the road sitting in the ditch. Most of them in 4 whd vehicles.

Yeah, just left the office and it's awful here. Worse than it was this morning on the way in. Sun is startng to show though. Some sun would help a ton.

Just drove 380 from McKinney to Decatur and on 287 headed north to Foard county. The roads are tough but my F250 in four wheel high is working fine. Even dragging a trailer. Stopped to eat in the Falls and the overpass here isn't even that bad.

I'm in Lipan went hunting in it this morning and went to work afterwards and snuck off early and I'm back in the stand again but I'm also crazy. It's pretty bad haven't gone over 35 mph all day and that seemed too fast.

I think I'm gonna pull for some sun to help the roads tomorrow, then sneak out on Sunday morning and hunt in that calm wind.

Just doesn't seem worth the risk, though I really want to hunt.

Of course, if I just happen to be awake around 4am.....

On the outskirts in dfw On 30. Traffic is bad as people keep getting stuck on the ice.

It took us 6 hours to get from Dallas to Foard county and most of it was getting to Bowie, 380 was wild.

Tried to make it from McKinney to Graham on 380 yesterday afternoon. Oops, bad idea. Took me 4 hours to make it to Bridgeport (normally takes me ~ 1hr 15min), where I wisely checked in to hotel. No way I was going to keep pushing my luck - it was scary out there.

Will wait til it's been light for a bit and go the rest of the way. Already halfway there so might as well keep going.

So if you haven't tried yet to get on 380 going West from McKinney, DON'T. If you do, GO SLOW. Stay safe guys.

We left McKinney at around 6 pulled into the lease in palo pinto at around 1 am. Roads were bad, people driving cars they shouldn't have been on the roads were worse. Saw an impala get stuck in front of us twice and that was in front of two jackknifed semis.

Word to the wise, if you ain't gotta, I mean really gotta. Don't get on the road.

Sitting on my couch, fire already going, my daughters in their sleeping bags next to the fire, watching the news about the roads.

Hate to not hunt, but the reports look awful and I'm glad I stayed home.
