Has anyone in young county been seeing any descent bucks this year? I haven't seen anything over a small 8 and they don't seem to be rutting either. confused2

It's usually pretty good! I figured the cold weather would get the bigger bucks movin but so far nothing but does and spikes.

In SW Young a mile or two from Throckmorton line out last nite and this am , have only seen 1.5 yr old bucks. No doe and none of the mature bucks I have on film.

We've been seeing 3 - 7 bucks & 2 - 3 doe each every time we've hunted. See another 2 - 10 deer during the day out doing normal ranch chores.
Young bucks harassing doe, doe not interested in the least, mature bucks hanging out in the cover watching the doe & young idiots.

If you've been that often and been that active on the property and haven't seen a mature buck yet, I'd let them rest from all that pressure 2 - 4 days then try again.

IMO, Things should pick up activity wise in the next 2 - 7 days.

Driving from Woodson to Breck I saw two does paired up with respectable bucks on 183. One pair crossing the road in front of me and another in a wheat field 75 yds off the highway. Now I just need to see it on my little place!

Hunt the north east side of young county, and seen very little chasing but we have tagged a few nice bucks.

3 does and 2 young bucks last night. Does came in less than 30 yds. The 2 young ones mixed it up which was pretty cool.

Perfect morning 22 at the gate no wind. Did not see a deer and no shots around me. Weird.

Wife watched 3 bucks & 5 doe this evening, rut activity seems to be in high gear around here.

I sat near a trail in a chair under a big mesquite near the front tank, saw 2 very nice bucks ( for the area) staying well hidden creeping through the brush / mesquites. Never had a good shot counted 7 on one side on the biggest one.

Gonna try to whack a few yotes after dinner, tommorrow morning ill try to locate one of those bucks again.

I am South of town on 16. Im starting to wonder if the neighboring properties hunting rituals have turned all the deer nocturnal in the area. its the only thing that makes any sense.
