I have a lab (14 months) that has to have her anal glands "expressed" every single week. I do it myself after watching the vet do it once. It’s really not that hard, but that stuff is nasty and it stinks!!!
My question is, is this common for one to have to have her glands expressed so often?!?!

Some people say adding more fiber to her diet would help, other believe it makes no difference.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

I have also heard that if you run the dog more it will help.
I know someone that has a non huting dog that needs it done weekly or the dog smells and drags it's butt.

My business partner's pointer went every month. He got off the high protein/high fat and dog treats and it pretty much cleared up.

Had that issue with my dogs and switched dog foods and it went away.

Vet recommended mini wheats. Just a few a day. This was to increase fiber intake. We substituted these for dog treats. This was for a chihuahua and not a lab btw.

just scare the [censored] out of your dog and it they will release!!! I accidentally did this on Halloween. Borrowed a mask from an employee that brought one to work in order to joke the wife when I got home. Scared her and the dog which let our the foul smelling stuff on the kitchen floor. I was doubly in trouble then.

Have them surgically removed Any idea how much it costs? Ive tried changing feeds, two times... Now feeding 4Health (about 4 months) and it seems to be better than the puppy feed or the Diamond Naturals.
