I have a couple Brats for tonight and a bottle of beer. Nothing fancy at all but can anyone give me some advice on prepping the brats with the bottle.
Do I boil? How long? Etc.
Thanks!

I tried it once, I brought the Brats/Beer to a boil and allowed to simmer for several minutes. Then I grilled them. IMO, they are just as good straight from the package to the grill! Maybe I did something wrong?

heres how I do it, my Dad did it this way for years when I was growing up so it's time tested and most seem to like the results.
Start with a little aluminum tin, the small rectangle shaped disposable kind. put 1 stick of butter, 1 cut up onion, and 1/2 can of beer in there. place on the grill over the fire. It will melt the better and start carmlezing the onion. Add another beer when the onions start getting brownish. At the same time put the brats on the grill and let them cook normally -- but not in the tin. you want the brats cooked all the way through, and then let them blacken up just a bit in the fire.
After the bath is all melted and the brats are cooked and browned up, put them in the tin and let them cook in there for another half hour or so.
when you eat them, put the onion from the bottom of the tin on top of the brat and maybe add a decent mustard to it.
