Does anyone out there no the difference between the two? I'm needing new cold weather boots and the ones with Thermolite seem less expensive. Is there a difference? Thanks for any input.

I don;t know the difference, but i just bought these boots with 800 gr of thinsulate... Super comfortable and should do the trick for texas and mississippi hunting... These are bigtime on sale - I think they're a great deal at $111.00... http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templa...rset=ISO-8859-1

I might add that there may be no difference... maybe it'd be like buying generic versus name brand...

Most people get to much thinsulate in Texas and your feet sweat and when they sweat they get cold. I would rather have 200-400 thinsulate max and goretex boots.

I'd forget all the new super insulators. I'd buy uninsulated boots and buy about 10 pair of good wool socks. What all these new super fabrics don't tell you is that once they get wet they don't insulate. wool insulates as good wet as it does dry. I do alot of walking and glassing and if its cold your feet will warm up and prolly sweat and then when you stop and glass they get cold again. Wool will keep your feet the same temp moving or not wet or dry. Another tip if you have problems with your feet sweating or blisters is to cover your feet with anti-perspirant. What I do is cover my feet with anti-perspirant then put on a pair of the really thin (the see thru kind) of mens dress socks, and then put on my wool socks. I use the scent away brand of anti-perspirant which helps you watch your scent even after a day of walking and glassing. I'd invest in a good pair of Wolverine's or red wings and just buy better socks this is what I've been doing for years and it works great.

I bought a pair of thinsulate boots at academy. Needless to say after stomping through the woods and into a creek in the woods on a recent hunting trip in Mena Arkansas a stick..yes a stick punctured a hole in them the very first time I used them..very weak material..Spend the extra dough on Thermolite

+1000 on the wool socks!! Another little secret is to keep your boots laced LOOSELY. The tighter you crank 'em down, the less circulation you have. I've found that even in rough terrain my Danners work very well not being tied at all. If it gets bad for you just bend down and tie them.
I do more 'spot and stalk' hunting, rattling, etc. than I do stand hunting though, so here's trick #2... Get some of those little hand warmers and put them in your boots down by your ankle. Careful to let them cool a bit from thermonuclear to 'just right' first though! If your bookshanks are loose this won't be a problem. You'll probably take them out once you get on the move again. You'd be amazed at how a little help from a heater pack can make a difference!! I also put those in my sleeves near my wrists because my hands do tend to get cold.
Another trick! Wear a knit cap. I'm pretty much bald and I'll be cold all over if I don't keep my cranium covered. With a good wool or fleece I feel warmer everywhere, feet included.
Sorry I didn't answer your question but maybe this helps!

I wear PAC boots with a wool removable liner. On my feet are polypro liner socks then wool socks. As BAYOURAT stated- wool insulates & keeps your feet warm even when wet. I have a severe problem with my feet overheating and sweating when on the move (like walking to my stand). Usually my feet are the first things to get cold. The above combo has helped alot.

+1 on uninsulated boots. I even carry extra wool socks in my pack and change them midday, if necessary. This has worked on hunts from Mexico to Alaska in all weathers.
