Military member looking for a piece of land to hunt in the San Antonio area, willing to drive a couple hours if needed. Not looking to spend much and can hunt rifle and or bow. Please help me get the Texas hunting experience before I am moving out of state!

Welcome to the board. I'm in a similar situation myself. I'm in the beginning stages of planning a trip out to lake Amistad NRA for bowhunting. It's public land. Supposed to be pretty rugged. I'll keep you posted.

Marc I can help you on axis does and some sweet hog hunting. The axis does are 300 low fence and they are hitting oat patches daily. Also have a high fence that's loaded with pigs 45 miles south of SA

I would be interested in the Hog fine sir. What would it take to get rolling?

I just visited a place outside of San Saba that has LOTS of hogs and deer. MLD Level III with a house on property to stay in and a meat processing building with everything needed to process your own if you want. They do however skin and debone for you. I was told hogs are all you can shoot for a daily fee. Night hunting them is done also. Lots of deer at different pricing for sizes. Jeremy and Bucky are great to be with and they run the program on about 14000 acres. It might be worth a call to see what they can do for you. I wouldn't recommend it if I hadn't been there and saw it with my own eyes.
