"Some mallards and gadwall, but I'd say that fifty to sixty percent of the birds shot were blue-winged teal."
That explains A LOT!

That explains the lack of number here in Nor Tex
Dry Creek Outfitters - North Texas Duck, Dove, Turkey and Pig Hunts! Widgeons shall now be known as democrats. Living off the hard work of others.

Does that mean that we might get some good looking drakes before they make it to the coast?

Funny I just talked to our friends who we will be pheasant hunting with in South Dakota and they said the same thing. Pretty much all they killed was blue and green wing teal. I guess I'll have to make a few teal hunts in October with a 410...

Late Hatch...
Interesting, what are the chances that you may get to shoot a Mature BWT in Texas this year. That would be a nice little bonus.

Late Hatch...
Interesting, what are the chances that you may get to shoot a Mature BWT in Texas this year. That would be a nice little bonus. I think my chances are pretty good being that we shoot them year round every year down here. Here's a picture my buddy sent me last year on a hunt I missed out on. This past January some old prairie flooded and it was covered in smartweed. If the pintail, mallards, mottled ducks, and gadwall wouldn't have been scratching our eyes out we could have shot full limits of blue wing drakes like these everyday for about 3 weeks. My buddy was making me hold off on killing them to shoot big ducks.

Tell you what aggie, I will sacrifice a mallard to my stringer for a full plum teal for your collection. It will cost you a shell and a coors light for the transport.

Does that mean that we might get some good looking drakes before they make it to the coast? Doubt it. Usually late dec/jan before they color out.
