I'm glad I went to a reputable breeder and turned my buddy down for his pups. These are said to be pure bred labs, black male with a yellow female, but neither have papers. Would pure bred labs have this coloration to them?

lol I figured as much. they sold them for $400 and advertised them as well behaved and calm. for the dad, I've never seen a shock collar used more, and if the mom gets let out of her run area, you have to chase her into the next county

several people payed 400. there were 10 pups or so. I'm paying 600 for mine and are from a reputable breeder with known backgrounds and cleared of diseases

Maybe mixed with rottie or german shepherd haha. They might make a good dog though.

She advertises them in the Star Telegram and people pay a couple of hundred dollars for them. I laughed at her the first time and she rubbed it in my face. I was suprised at how fast she was able to sell the entire litter. She has done it several times.

People will pay for mutts if they like the look of them. Or an idea that the dog should do whatever they are thinking of. We had a guy buy a Bluetick Coonhound for a junkyard dog once because he saw a video of people hunting bear with them. Pet stores routinely sell mixed breeds (common and uncommon mixes) for 800-1000. It's not the price, it's the consumer. I could probably get 1500 for every puppy put out for a Anatolian/ rott mix if they looked like a huge rott.

I'm not saying you can't make money off mutts, I'm saying these are advertised as pure breds and the blacks look like these. The yellows are a mixture of dark and light, common, but some are pink nosed and some are black nosed. Clearly not pure bred!

I guess my point was people could still make a little money off of them without misrepresenting the breed.

Well just did a little Internet research. Apparently they're still "purebred" but known as Black and Tan labs. Some sort of recessive mutant gene from when they were bred with Gordon setters. When they get older, they basically look like rotts or pinchers.
Still glad I went with a breeder

Maybe he should have called them rare, and charge extra for them.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

There isn't one dog on that link that looks like a lab to me. Is there proof other than someone said so when they sent the pics?

Black yellow and brown are the only colors recognized by the AKC.
