I think the largest free ranging Texas buck came from Shackelford along time ago. Anyways I hear it is a good area. Good Luck!!

We've got some really nice deer. Pretty typical for our lease to produce at least one 150+ buck a year. Really depends how close you are to Albany in my experience.
What size property did you lease?

There are some huge bucks...but the are much shier than your Hill Country bucks. I had a lease in San Saba and driving thru the pasture we would jump 20-30 deer. Not so with Shackleford county deer. I've seen 1 deer while driving around in 3 years. Like anywhere else... opening day is your best shot for a trophy. Where is your lease? I'm about 5 miles south of Albany on 6.

We're hunting right in the same area billybob. I agree the bucks are much shier here. Patience is key in our area.

We'll have to meet up at the Ice House for a cold one in November.

Thanks for the pics and info. I leased 1,200 acres andhubbard creek runs through the property. Looks promising for sure.

You're in a good area. I'm a little further to the North of there. Don't get frustrated if early season is slow. Thanksgiving is around the time activity really picks up.
