I need to make a blind(s). Will 2x2 be ok for support for the walls? Not so much into saving money more into the weight of 2x4s and how bulky/heavy they are. Yay or nay?

I bought a blind about 8 years ago that used 2X2 completely. So far it has withstood getting blown off a trailer when the tie-downs broke, got hit by a mini-tornado and blown about 20ft., and is back up and still standing strong!

They work fine. I've had great success with them and corrugated tin for the skin. I've had mine for 8 years now, looks like the day I put it out except for the paint fading slightly. Light enough for two men to load in a pickup or Polaris Ranger.

Yep. They work good. Screws all the way.

We split 2x4s for the walls. It was the same reason you stated. We built at home then transported to lease and we wanted to reduce weight. This weekend I was sitting on the roof to work on it. I am not a small framed person.

I have built many an elevated deer blind using 2x2 framing for the walls and roof. IMHO, the strength comes from the skin, so I use plenty of glue and 1.5" screws to skin the blind. I've had a stand that has blown over 3 times in central Texas with very little damage to box, although the tin roof took a beating, lol!

I've got one in Missouri that's been there 10 years. Still killing big bucks out of it.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.
