Our lease is on 158 at the Coke/ Sterling county line. I have only been on the lease since September. Anyone know about turkey in this area?

I know there are turkey out there but it seems to be real spotty. I have been in Coke for 5 years now and I've never seen one at my place. Same with hogs...I know of people that shoot them all of the time in Coke but I've never seen one other than along side the road.

I used to hunt in that area and we had turkeys but we had a big creek running through with some good trees and that`s what you need to have somewhat close by if your going to have any turkeys. If I remember right that area is mostly mesquites and cedars and you gotta have the bigger trees for them to have a place to roost.

I hunt near the lake and there are some big tall trees in that area...still didn't see any turkeys.

way too much activity around that lake for turkeys to be hanging out.

So far the only ones I have seen have been on the golf course in Robert Lee.
Same with us as far as hogs go, none on the lease just dead on the road.

I have a place in Coke Co. near the Sterling Co. line. When you are out there look toward the big wind mill's and the big power line up on the Divide, and youll be lookin toward my place . It's loaded with Rio Grand turkey. This yr. the # are up from the last couple of yrs. Was feeding this past wk. and the Gobbler's are all over the place. Get out to your place and listen ,I'll bet you hear some turkey ,you should stand a decent chance at a bird even if the place you hunt is just So So. Good Luck. And as far as to much activity around the lake , Have you been to the lake in the last couple of yrs. You can walk across it and not get your feet wet! We need some Rain Bad.Dusty Texian.

Sounds promising. Our leases must not be far apart. We are on top of the hill where it is flat, just before the windmills.
