Shot 5 Crows and then my little one was ready to head home.

I was surprised how much shot a crow could take. I was shooting 20 gauge with number 6 hi brass 2 3/4 and on several birds I had to shoot them twice to knock them out of the sky. My first stand was in some trees and we pulled in several. I finally got a shot on one and knocked him down, but he got back up and start to get air born so I shot him again.

My next stand was near a large tank, which had 3 Mexican Mallards on it BTW. We started calling and they came in but circled the tree line and would not commit. They circled for about 10 minutes and then a hawk flew by and they all fallowed him.

At my next stand, I took the dead crow we had and spread his wings out on the ground and put a Primos Spinning Varmint Decoy above him and turned on the call. I shoot 3 crows in about 5 minutes. I could have shoot more but did not want to give the game away.

I moved quite aways away and repeated. I had 6 crows coming at me on a bee line. I shoot the first one and the other threw on the brakes and there was no more action.

We made one more stand but nothing came in.

Pretty happy for my first time trying to kill crows with a call and some decoys...

I also shot 4 this weekend.

Crow hunting was a little slower than normal for me.

That sounds like a lot of fun, I would like to try that someday.

My hunting bud and I used to go to Baylor Ranch in Sierra Blanca
for Dove Season...one year I was loading Longshot and shot a number of "Ravens"..thats what they call Crows West of San Antonio..I think..It was a blast..the Longshot is loud and has the velocity of about 1 1/2 Goose Loads..but it will shred a Crow
at over 100 yds flying..DD
