Don't think it can't happen here. Another reason why the 2nd Amendment is the final guarantee of the other articles in the Bill of Rights.

I shudder to think of the reaction to our populace finding that 15% of the money in the bank accounts they hold is gone, the atm is out of cash, the bank card/foodstamp doesn't work, banks are closed for a week, maybe more.
Damn, I sure hope something good is on the TeeVee that week.

Korea is nothing like Germany, and no amount of Army Modernization propaganda will convince me otherwise. I miss my wife and kids something fierce

I'll continue stocking up on barter supplies should this happen here. I pray to God that it never happens, but financially this country is in incredibly terrible shape.

God has a plan and something special in mind for all of us. Do you know the direction that God wants to send you?

Everyone should do a little research and look into what they have been trying to do in Cyprus. The IMF or EU could bail them out of immediate financial danger but I believe they are running a "test if you will" on a small nation to see the effects and if basically taking a percentage of everybody's bank account is a viable way to raise a large amount of funds in a short amount of time. After all its just zeros on a computer screen it's not like the cash actually exists. They wanted to ultimately bill it as a "wealth tax" with 6.5% to be taken from savings accounts up to 10,000 euros and 9.5% taken from savings accounts with over 10,000 euros. A one time "tax" or "bank robbery" from peoples accounts. Talk about losing faith in your banking system!

I was reading on this earlier, then heard a little more about it on Hannity's radio show on the way home. It also seems the Russians are interested in bailing Cyprus out, in exchange for the offshore oil rights they control. Speculation was, if that deal looked to have any legs, that Europe (collectively) would bail out Cyprus to keep the Russian interests out of the region.

Still, it's all an interesting turn of events. I'll be emptying my bank account tomorrow wink

They are bailing out the banks. Just as American politicians did. Did they come to your bank account and take the money? No. But us as Americans are still responsible for that debt through taxation one way or another.
Basically anyone who thinks this could not happen in America. Wake up it already has.

Theft is theft.....no matter what kind of fancy label you hang on it.

The banksters made a big mistake (which they have subsequently realized).....You don't steal from the Russians....many of which are former KGB and had substantial amounts of money in Cypriot banks.

These banksters stepped in it big time. Over the coming months, if they go through with this, expect to hear about the ones responsible for this having deadly accidents....or the Russian mobsters will just out and out kill them.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch.

Part of Obamacare (one part that we had to pass the bill so we could know what was in it) includes a tax....3.8% I believe....on the sale of any asset over $200,000 (i.e. your house for instance).

How's that for theft?

Did anyone hear about the Chase Bank glitch that happened Monday night ? Seems like some people were online banking to find out that their checking accounts read a balance of 0.Some articles said millions of accounts were affected even though not everyone realized it.

Hmmmmm
